It enables students to interact with an AI assistant and ask questions related to course content, helping them better understand concepts and engage with learning materials. The AI assistant can provide explanations, guidance, and hints to support student learning, while instructors can configure the assistant to align with their course requirements and learning objectives. #### Adding MooChat to a Course 1. Warning: - MooChat can read text from PDFs, PowerPoint, and text files in the section, but it cannot read scanned PDFs or images. - Sections with excessive content can result in slower, lower-quality responses. - If the section contains excessive or varied content, a warning will be displayed. Keep each section focused on a single topic for better results. - **Avatar Image:** Upload an image to use as the avatar for MooChat. --- - **System Prompt (AI Personality):** Enter instructions to define how the AI assistant should behave when interacting with students. For example, you can instruct the AI to act as a friendly tutor and explain concepts step by step. ![Image](https://cdn.document360.io/7a3c00d9-daf1-4451-a1a0-1e6ab8f34fa6/Images/Documentation/image-DPO7M32R.png) 1. **Course Content for AI:** ![Image](https://cdn.document360.io/7a3c00d9-daf1-4451-a1a0-1e6ab8f34fa6/Images/Documentation/image-DHSE6IGU.png) - **Upload Content Files:** Upload PDF or plain text (.txt) files for MooChat to use as reference material when answering student questions. Notes: - You can upload up to five files, with a maximum file size of 500 MB per file. The actual file size limit may be lower depending on the site’s maximum upload size. - For better results, it is recommended to upload shorter, focused files. - **Only Use Uploaded Content:** Select this option to restrict MooChat to answering questions using only the uploaded files. If a student asks about information that is not covered in the uploaded files, MooChat will indicate that the information is not available in the course materials. If this option is not selected, the uploaded files will be used as reference material, and the AI may also use its general knowledge. 1. **Learning Objectives & Grading:** Enter one learning objective per line. After each AI response, the AI checks whether the student has met each objective. Students earn points as objectives are met, and meeting all objectives results in the full grade. You may leave this field blank to disable AI grading. **Example learning objectives:** - The student can state when Albert Einstein was born. - The student can explain the theory of relativity in simple terms. - The student can name at least two of Einstein's major contributions. ![Image](https://cdn.document360.io/7a3c00d9-daf1-4451-a1a0-1e6ab8f34fa6/Images/Documentation/image-J4B68DZK.png) Notes: - AI-generated grades are estimates and may not always be accurate. Instructors are encouraged to review students’ conversations and adjust grades as needed. - Instructors can override grades at any time from the gradebook. 1.
