Integration of RFID Technologies and WSN for Vehicles Tracking and Identification

When: Wednesday, March 21, 2012 09:00 AM

This seminar aims to present the process of reading passive tags by RFID (Radio Frequency
IDentification) in WSN (Wireless sensor network). WSN is used to support RFID identification
process by routing the tag. Then a routing clustered wireless sensor network is used to
transmit the packet to the cluster head. We will propose new routing methods, by applying
enhanced LEACH (Low Energy Adaptive Clustering Hierarchy) method called PS-LEACH, with
permanent cluster heads using solar energy in highly sun light exposed environments such as
GCC. We will investigate the tag fusion problem and its impact on tag throughput and energy
consumption in clustered sensor network using time slotted communication protocols. Finally,
Data emitted by CH is collected by gateway and forwarded to a machine called base station/
sink. It can then be passed via Internet connectivity to the visualization software (tool) on a
potentially remote machine. The proposed system can monitor car traffic in UAE, and can
inform administrators whether a given car has passed on not. However, still open research
problems need to be investigated. In this seminar, we present some avenues of open research
in this field.
