Khalid Ammar earned his Ph.D. degrees from the Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering, University of Sherbrooke, Sherbrooke, Canada, and his Master degree from the Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering, Concordia University, Montreal, Canada.

From 1995 to 1999 he was an active Ph.D. member in the Research Group for Medical Apparatus of Sherbrook (GRAMS), Sherbrook, Canada, involved in the design and implementation of highly specialized computer system for biomedical applications.
He worked at NORTEL NETWORKS (formerly Bell Northern Research), Ottawa, Canada, (2000-2001) as a senior ASIC applications engineer. Provided design guidance and expertise to Nortel ASIC design community through full COT flow from the beginning of the design phase to prototypes and manufacturing by providing solution, analysis, and recommendations to resolve any technical issue in the areas of synthesis, simulation, static timing analysis, electrical rule checking, floor planning, layout and power analysis.
In 2002 he joined Ajman University, Computer Engineering department where he taught several electrical and computer engineering courses.
